What causes tooth decay?

Your teeth are covered with sticky film of bacteria, called plaque. Plaque bacteria use sugar and starch in food as a source of energy. The bacteria convert the sugar or starch into harmful acids that attack tooth enamel for as long as 20 minutes or more. Repeated attacks may cause the enamel to break down, resulting in cavities.

Why are straight teeth healthier teeth?

When teeth are crowded, plaque with harmful bacteria can attach to the tooth surface down to the bottom of the pocket. Plaque can be difficult to remove from crowded areas because it is difficult to brush and floss here. Bacteria can cause gum tissue surrounding the tooth to degrade, and if not treated, result in bone loss.

Straightening your teeth can make a significant difference to having a healthy mouth and keeping your teeth for life. Inquire about Invisalign treatment on our website www.fordsmiles.com
